Collajader is simple tool for testing Collada format and rendering performance of 3D engine.
Version 0.4 supports Aleternativa 3D 7 engine.
You can test application on the web or you can grab a source code from GitHub.

Adobe announced upcoming version of CS 5.5. In my opinion they should change the name to CS 6, because new features are very powerful.

There are great news for PHP developers. Adobe announced FlashBuilder 4.5 for PHP. Simpler workflow and better integration of Flash/Flex apps with PHP code base.

Absolutely great job Adobe!
When you want to debug Flex app just start debugger in Flash Builder. It will launch browser, e.g. Firefox 4.
The problem is that when you stop at break point for too long, Firefox 4 will terminate Flash plugin. Default limit is 45 seconds.
This is useful behavior for normal web, but it’s not good for debugging.
Solution is quite easy.
Type URL: about:config
Enter filter: dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs
Change value to -1

Adobe is expanding possibilities of 3D apps implementing by Molehill low level 3D API into Flash Player.

Conference Svoboda 2011 was great. I was talking about 3D models for Thermoplay’s – Hot Runner Systems and catalog applications developed for Ermanno Balzi.
The second part of my talk was related to Srobick communication platform. Actual version of Srobick supports Annotator, On-line conference, Ticket system and Mass Mail campaigns. Platform is now available for customers.

Adobe launched simple web site with list of RIA tools available for free.
You can find there more information about free version of Flash Builder.
List is quite small, but do not forget that there are many other useful resources available for free: opensource.adobe.com, riaforge.org, wonderfl.net.

Update 2: Collajader 0.3 was released. Added support for orbit camera.
There are several 3D libraries for Flash which are able to display 3D model in RIA application.
Tools like Blender and CAD/CAM software are able to generate Collada format (.dae). Alternativa3D support this format. You can load Collada file directly into application with Alternativa3D.
The only problem of exported model is that it contains a lot of other information that you do not need for rendering.
I created simple tool Collajader which is able to display content defined in Collada format in the web browser. You don’t need to start any 3D software and you can still finetune some details of the model.

Just open Acrobat X Pro, choose Create PDF, select SWF, add assets and you’ve got working application inside PDF.

No problem! Just build app in Flex with 3D support and embed it in PDF.
